Summary : The main causes of World War I were imperialism, alliances system, militarism and nationalism and the immediate cause was assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.

European countires had colonies and grew their wealth and power. They wanted more and more and created the conflicts.
-Alliances System
European countries had their alliances and the system was creating a chain. If a country declared a war, the system would put every country in the war.
-Militarism
An arm race was on in Europe and all countries wanted stronger armies.
-Nationalism
Austria-Hungary didn't want Slavic people to be a part of them but a part of Serbia. This causes the anger of Slavic people.
